Give Grief A Chance Podcast
A podcast about bringing grief awareness out into the open. A project to help people connect, and share their experiences with grief and loss
On this week's podcast episode, I'm talking about the importance of self-care for caregivers. What do they tell you on an airplane when the oxygen mask comes down in front of you, "please put your own mask on first before assisting anyone else" because, only when we first help ourselves can we effectively help others. And if you are a caregiver and are not taking care of yourself, overtime the physical, emotional, and mental demands of caring for someone can become exhausting which will soon lead to extreme fatigue and burnout, but by taking care of yourself in a healthy way will help you to be the best caregiver you want to be. Enjoy!
When you're grieving, you may feel so much heartache and yet still have those moments of happiness and laughter. Sadly, many people feel that it's wrong and disrespectful to be happy and smile in the midst of grief, but the truth is you don't have to let go of the pain to make space for happiness and it's actually healthy to feel happy while simultaneously grieving. Here's where I offer a few suggestions that might help you to become a little happier while grieving. Enjoy!
When two people experience the same type of loss they often assume that they will grieve the same way but, that not true as it depends on the relationship you had with the person who has died. And though your grief may include some similarities that others experience, your feelings are individual to you and every person manifests grief in a way that is appropriate for them. Enjoy!
On this week's episode I'm talking about how new beginnings can be a very exciting time however, starting something new can also bring up emotions such as grief and beginnings can be especially hard during the grieving process and even after. So I'm offering a few ways to deal with the grief of a new beginning. Enjoy!
